How to create a "To Be Deleted" folder
My users access shares in a server's Public folder. The goal is to deny them Delete permissions, instead have them Move a file into a "To Be Deleted" folder. So far I had no success with it, and I think it's because moving a file also means deleting it (from the original location). Can anyone think of a trick way of doing this? Thanks.

I am sorry i am not able to understand you properly...Let me say you want in this way. There is a folder called X under the public folder like -> "ExchangeServer\Public Folder\X" and you want user should able to do everything inside that folder but they shouldn't delete that folder correct?IF that is what you want then lets do one thing, create another folder inside that and give no access to all the users but full access to X folder. So like this "Exchange Server\Public Folder\X\test" so give test Denied access to everyone on test folder and give full access to X folder.Ensure Test folder shouldn't inherit permission from X folder... so whenever users abc@contoso.com tries to delete the folder x, the action will be fail because user abc@contoso.com has full access on folder X but not access on test folder :).Try and let me know if this works.Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Arun, thanks for the reply. Let me clarify: I want to avoid deletion by users of files inside the Public folder. I would like to create a folder Public\ToBeDeleted, and if a user wants to delete a file from Public, they will move that file into ToBeDeleted. I will check that folder weekly, confirm that the files are OK to delete, and empty out that folder. Users will not have the ability to delete files directly.

Hi,Your understanding is right. Move behaviour is meaning delete the message, so to deny the delete permission also means the move feature is disabled.ThanksAllen
